Construction Work – Sept. 29, ’26
We would like to provide an update on the progress and resumption of our School Library Project.
The project experienced some delays due to unforeseen circumstances and because our former foreman, Mr. Jonathan Orias, has become very busy. Fortunately, we have found someone who can replace him and take over the supervision of the project: Mr. Wilmer Pelaez, father of a Grade 6 student at LDRES.
Although the project is entirely based on volunteer work, Mr. Wilmer will make a significant amount of his time available to help with the construction of the library. To support him, the Foundation will provide him with a daily allowance of ₱500 during his volunteer work. This amount is expressly not payment for labor or services rendered, but a contribution to support him in his responsibilities as a father and breadwinner while he voluntarily dedicates his time to the project.
Although Mr. Wilmer will act as foreman, additional volunteers are still needed to carry out the work together. We therefore ask for everyone’s cooperation so that 4 to 5 volunteers are available on each working day to work alongside him on the project.
Construction work has resumed
On Tuesday, September 29, construction work on the school library resumed. With the help of 8 volunteers, no fewer than 80 CHB (concrete hollow blocks) were laid.
The female volunteers helped by passing the cement mixture, while the male volunteers, under the supervision of Sir Wilmer, worked on the scaffolding to lay the CHB.
Extra attention was given to the safety and stability of the homemade scaffolding. Thanks to everyone’s good cooperation, this first volunteer workday after the resumption of construction was a success.
At the end of the workday, all volunteers were provided with lunch by Stichting Ama Namin (SAN). The meal served was laing, a traditional Filipino vegetable dish.
We would like to thank all the volunteers for their wonderful effort and cooperation! ❤️🙏
The next phase
The current goal is to complete the remaining work using 100 CHB (concrete hollow blocks) and then continue through the pouring of the concrete beam of the school library. We estimate that approximately 8 to 10 days of volunteer work will be needed to complete this stage.
Once the concrete beam has been poured, the structure will be stronger and safer. After that, the project may, if necessary, be temporarily paused while the Foundation continues fundraising for the next phase of construction.
Our goal is to resume construction of the complete library building in January 2027.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who continues to support this project, volunteers their time, and works together with us to make this school library a reality. With your help, step by step, we are creating a place where the students will soon be able to read, learn, and further develop themselves.
