Last Sunday, August 17, the moment had finally arrived. After weeks of preparation and hard work, the opening of Kain Tayo Sa Labas Tara took place. This contemporary food court is a true fusion spot where Dutch and Filipino dishes come together. In this cozy location, guests can enjoy a wide variety of delicacies. Take-out is available, but visitors can also sit down comfortably under a covered area, enjoy a drink, and savor the freshly prepared local meals.

Stichting Ama Namin collaborated on this project with the Gutierrez family, an entrepreneurial household that seized the opportunity—with the support of Stichting Ama Namin—not only to become self-sufficient, but also to contribute to ongoing projects and future initiatives. They are supported by various local volunteers who generously offered their time and energy to make this project possible.

Through hard work, the right mindset, and the support of the community, the Gutierrez family has proven themselves, and we are extremely proud of what they have achieved. The ultimate goal is for them to generate their own income and, in time, to also support our foundation. In this way, we aim to give opportunities to people who are willing to adapt, develop themselves, and build a sustainable future.

At the same time, we also want to introduce visitors to Dutch culture. For example, the menu is presented in Dutch, traditional stamppot is on the menu, and at the exit a small sign reads Tot ziens. There is even a photo booth where guests can take pictures with typical Filipino elements as well as Dutch symbols such as a windmill and a bicycle.

The Kain Tayo Sa Labas Tara project will serve as an inspiration for others who want to achieve something. It shows that it is possible and that promises are kept—provided one is willing to make a small adjustment in mindset and mentality.

We are incredibly proud of this Dutch-Filipino fusion food court and will continue to share updates on the progress at this location in the coming period.
